As believers, we have the opportunity from scripture to know where we are headed in the hereafter. With that, we are positioned properly to prepare for our eventual destination. Through God’s grace, we are able to use our daily experiences to prepare ourselves to partake in eternity with God.
We will be doing ourselves a huge disservice if we fail to prepare. Imagine knowing that an exam is coming up at the end of a school semester/term and simply ignoring the preparation phase leading up to it. This won’t result in a successful outcome if things are allowed to play out naturally.
In matters of spiritual health, we will be helping ourselves more by being prepared—especially if we find ourselves in a spiritual rut.
We show that we believe in eternity—in the eternal existence of the soul—by setting ourselves up nicely in confident expectation through preparing ourselves.
Thank God for not keeping eternity and what we will enjoy in it from us. May He give us the willingness and the passion to do our part in getting ready for what lies in it.
